Overview of the course

The whole thing started in 1950 with Turing's famous article "Can Machines Think?" Or maybe not? It might have as well begun 2300 years earlier with Aristotle's discourse on rationality and mind. Artificial Intelligence (AI) combines ideas from philosophy, antropology, psychology and neurobiology with computer-based tools and formal mathematical methods in order to come up with machines that deal with more and more complex problems. Within this course, we attempt to cover a part of this field: from the history of intelligence-related research, through search-based problem solving, planning, knowledge engineering and reasoning under uncertainty, to machine learning and neural networks. The course consists of lectures and exercises. ...A note aside: check paper clips from popular scientific magazines if you can. In 1960s, people claimed that intelligent computers would be available in 5 years.

Übungen, Scheine und Prüfungen

• Übungen: Die Lösungen müssen vor Beginn der entsprechenden Übungen abgegeben werden. Es sind Gruppen mit bis zu 3 Studenten erlaubt.
• Teilnahmeschein: Mindestens 50% der Gesamtpunktzahl aller Aufgabenzettel
  
• Prüfung: tba
