Study Programmes

In more than 40 European states a new two-stage system of studies, the Bachelor and Master Programme, is being implemented and by 2010 will replace the current Diploma Programmes. The Bachelor Programme lasts three years and leads to the vocational qualification of the Bachelor's degree. The studies can then be continued further in our two-year Master Programme that is designed to prepare the students for a career in scientific research and an ambitious professional life. The international comparability of the new study programmes opens opportunities to the entire European job market.

As of the winter semester 2006/07 the Department of Informatics offers the new B.Sc. Computer Science/Business Information Systems, which can be started in either the winter or the summer semester. Our two Master Programmes M.Sc. Computer Science and M.Sc. Business Information Systems will start in the winter semester 2007/08. All three study programmes have been accredited by the renowned ASIIN. Although our Diploma Programmes in Computer Science and Business Information Systems will continue, only students in their fourth semester or higher may partake in these programmes.

Mentoring Programme

Since the winter semester 2005/06 we have been offering a Mentoring Programme for the first and second-year students. The students, in groups of five to ten, will meet once a week with a more experienced student and occasionally in the semester with a professor from the department.
